'Gave them laddus laced with poison': Agra woman, 2 sons & bahu ‘kill’ 3rd son & wife over property dispute

AGRA: Based on an audio message, police in Agra arrested a 60-year-old woman, her two sons, aged 25 and 19, and her daughter-in-law, 23, for allegedly killing her third son and his wife by giving them laddoo ‘laced with poison’ following a dispute over property.
On Thursday, Vinay Kumar, 24, and his wife, Dolly, 21, were found dead in suspicious circumstances at their residence, with their 20-day-old daughter lying near them. The accused were arrested on Sunday, said police, adding that Vinay had sent an audio message to his brother-in-law Sandeep Singh just before his death. In the audio message, Vinay said: “These four people (the arrested accused) have given us something to eat, and they will not stop until they have taken our lives.”
By the time Sandeep arrived, Vinay and Dolly died. Investigators also recovered a half-eaten ‘laddoo’ and have sent it for forensic tests.
Based on a complaint by Dolly’s father, an FIR was lodged under BNS sections 103 (1) (punishment for murder) and 61 (2) (criminal conspiracy) against Vinay’s mother, Bhagwan Devi, elder brother Titu Kumar and his wife Neelam, and younger brother Ram Kumar.
Shahganj SHO Kushal Pal Singh on Monday said, “The victim and the accused lived in a joint family setup in Agra’s Ajam Pada area. The family lived on the ground floor of a building while they ran a business of manufacturing silver anklets from the first floor. Vinay and his wife were not on cordial terms with his mother and brothers as they did not wish to share the property.”
“The voice message has been treated as a dying declaration, and circumstantial evidence indicates a conspiracy. All four suspects have been remanded in custody,” said SHO Singh.
