'New face of terrorism': Over 5 lakh Pakistani women living here without Indian citizenship, says BJP's Nishikant Dubey

NEW DELHI: BJP MP Nishikant Dubey expressed worries on Monday about what he described as the “new face of Pakistani terrorism“. He specifically addressed the situation of Pakistani women who have married and moved to India but remain without Indian citizenship.
In a post on the social media platform X, Dubey stated that more than five lakh Pakistani women are currently residing in India following their marriages, yet they have not secured Indian citizenship.
“A new face of Pakistani terrorism has now surfaced. More than 5 lakh Pakistani girls are living in India after getting married, but they have not got Indian citizenship till date. How to fight these enemies who have entered inside?” the BJP MP stated.
Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22 that resulted in 26 casualties, India implemented strict measures against Pakistan. These included the immediate cancellation of all visa categories for Pakistani citizens from April 27, with exceptions made for long-term, diplomatic, and official visas.
At the Attari Border, protocol officer Arun Pal confirmed on Sunday that 537 Pakistani nationals departed India via the crossing point during the previous three days, coinciding with the expiration of the deadline for short-term visa holders.
Over the past three days, 850 Indian Nationals have made their way back to India, according to Pal. He noted that whilst 237 Pakistani nationals returned to their homeland on Sunday, 116 Indian nationals also came back.
The violent incident occurred in Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir. This attack stands as one of the most severe in the region since the 2019 Pulwama incident, where 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans lost their lives.
Since April 23, National Investigation Agency (NIA) teams have been present at the Pahalgam attack location, strengthening their search for crucial evidence. The teams, under the leadership of an IG, DIG, and SP from the anti-terror agency, are conducting interviews with witnesses who saw the April 22 attack.
The Indian Army has heightened its vigilance and commenced multiple search operations to locate the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack. The event has triggered strong reactions nationwide, with demonstrations taking place across India, calling for more stringent measures against Pakistan regarding the Pahalgam incident.
