NEW DELHI: In a night brimming with monumental IPL records, it was a 14-year-old prodigy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who stole the limelight with a knock for the ages at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday. His blistering 38-ball 101 not only guided Rajasthan Royals to a thumping eight-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans but also left a trail of broken records and stunned cricket fans across the world.
Suryavanshi’s 35-ball century — the fastest by an Indian in IPL history — shattered the long-standing record of Yusuf Pathan’s 37-ball ton from 2010.

But that was only one of many milestones on a night where his brilliance eclipsed even the most significant IPL feats.

Chasing a steep 210, Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal (70 off 40) forged a devastating 166-run opening stand, the highest partnership for any wicket for Rajasthan Royals, surpassing the 155-run stand between Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal in 2022.
The Royals overhauled the target in just 15.5 overs — the fastest 200+ run chase in IPL history, bettering Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s 16-over effort against the same opponents last season.
