Sheena Bajaj and Rohit Purohit, who tied the knot in January 2019, are excited to announce that they are expecting their first child. The couple, who are currently in their fourth month of pregnancy, shared the news on Instagram today, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.
Speaking exclusively about the joyful news, Sheena says, “I conceived at the end of January, just a few days after our sixth wedding anniversary. Rohit has always loved kids and has wanted to have a child for the longest time. When we decided to start our family, we didn’t expect it to take as long as it did.”
Rohit, currently seen as the male lead in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, adds, “I was in shock at first. Once the news sank in, I had tears of joy in my eyes. I couldn’t react properly and had to leave for a shoot. We waited for the doctor’s confirmation and the sonography. I’ve always wanted to become a father since we got married, and now it’s finally happening.”
He continues, “I’m hoping for a daughter, one with a nature that’s a perfect blend of Sheena’s and mine. I’m excited to take care of her. While I feel mentally prepared to be a father, nothing can truly prepare you until the baby arrives. I guess time will teach me everything I need to know.”
Sheena shares her experience during the first few months of pregnancy. She says, “The moment you see the positive result; it’s the happiest feeling after waiting for so long. But as you pass the five-week mark, reality hits. For me, it was a difficult phase, with extreme nausea, vomiting, and fatigue that left me bedridden for almost three-and-a-half months. Things only started to stabilise by week 13.”
She adds, “I didn’t expect the symptoms to be so intense. I’ve gone through several surgeries before, including a period when I was paralysed before working on Vanshaj, but nothing was as painful as this phase. I think the pregnancy took a bit longer due to my PCOD, which led to infertility and other complications.”
The actress, last seen in Vanshaj, admits that she’s feeling a mix of emotions. “I’m actually quite scared. It requires a lot of strength, especially getting through the first few weeks. Rohit is absolutely thrilled. Every day, he talks to the baby, asking it to come soon, but I tell him to be patient and let the baby take its time (laughs!). He’s always talking to my belly, while I have to be extra cautious due to my surgeries,” she concludes.
