A Translink ticket inspector has been punched in the face and injured while on duty.
The employee was assaulted on board a Glider bus service, on the Stewartstown Road in west Belfast, at about 17:30 BST on Monday.
It was reported that the man was punched after he had spoken to a number of teenagers and two older men, one using a crutch and one with an arm in a sling, about their anti-social behaviour.
He required hospital treatment for his injuries.
Insp Adams, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) , said: “Any assault is unacceptable, but an attack on a member of staff who is assisting the local community is absolutely abhorrent.”
Enquiries are continuing and police have appealed for anyone with any information to contact them.
