A 35-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murder after a woman’s body was found in a house.

Isobella Knight, a 32-year-old mother, was found dead by police in Donnington Road, Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, on Friday afternoon.

Officers had been led to the property during initial inquiries into reports of a car crashing into a McDonald’s restaurant.

Paul Knight, of Donnington Road in Burton Latimer, was remanded in custody at Northampton Magistrates’ Court and is due to appear at Northampton Crown Court on 18 June.

There are identical white doors on both houses. There is police tape across the block-paved driveway and a white van and a police car parked outside.

A post-mortem examination found Ms Knight, known as Izzy, had died as a result of pressure being applied to her neck.

Senior investigating officer Det Insp Torie Harrison from the East Midlands special operations unit said a “comprehensive and fast-moving investigation into the circumstances of the death” was under way.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with Izzy’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. She was a much-loved daughter, sister and mother and the devastation caused by her death is immeasurable.”

A row of floral bouquets , some in blue wrapping, are laid out in front of a large ornamental grass. In the background is the wall of a brick-built house with a white door.

Neighbours in Burton Latimer have been shocked by the news.

Judy Robinson said: “I went out to the shops and found there were loads of police cars there and they were still there when I came back, so I gathered it was something big.”

She said she was “sad for the children, most of all, because they have lost their mummy”.

Another neighbour, Lee Owen, also said he was “sad for the children especially as we’ve got two little ones as well”.

He added that the neighbourhood was “quite quiet”.

Isobella Knight was described by a friend as a “warm, kind soul”

Posting on social media, once woman said she got to know Izzy through a slimming club – she was “such a warm, kind soul and she absolutely doted on her daughters”.

Another described Ms Knight as “a beautiful Mum with the warmest smile”.
