A 20-year-old man who was arrested after slurry was spread across a town’s streets ahead of a Pride parade has been released on bail.
The man was arrested on Sunday as part of the police investigation into the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday ahead of the first ever Pride parade in Ballymena, County Antrim.
He was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, aiding and abetting criminal damage and causing material to be deposited on a road.
A 19-year-old man, who is due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court later, has been charged with criminal damage, possession of an article with a blade or point and causing material to be deposited on a road.
He was arrested in the Granville Road area on Saturday.
Police are treating the incident as a hate crime.
Patrol officers spotted slurry on the streets of the town, including Greenvale Street, at 02:55 BST on Saturday.
Ballymena’s first ever Pride parade started at 14:00 BST and ended at Greenvale Street.
Ahead of the event, local businesses and people affected helped clean the streets.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said enquiries are ongoing and have called on anyone with information to come forward.
