A second man has been jailed after wheelie bins were used to steal thousands of pounds worth of clothing and trainers from a shop in Nottingham.

Ellis Bishop, 31, broke into Footlocker in Clumber Street in the early hours of 13 May with Reece Wheat, 28, who was sentenced for his role in the burglary later the same month.

Nottinghamshire Police said CCTV captured the pair helping themselves to goods and placing them into two stolen bins, before dragging their haul through the city centre.

Bishop was later identified by distinctive tattoos on his arms and legs, as well as the trainers he was wearing, the force added.

After reviewing other CCTV evidence, police said he was also responsible for three shop thefts in the city centre on 27 May, 15 June and 20 June.

Bishop, of Bath Street in St Ann’s, pleaded guilty to one count of burglary and four counts of theft at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday and was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison.

Wheat, of no fixed address, previously pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary, two counts of theft and using threatening words with intent to cause fear of violence.

He was given a nine-month custodial sentence.
