‘Roti like papad, paneer stale’: AAP leader Sanjay Singh’s wife rues 'extremely poor' Tejas Express meal; railways says 'nobody else complained'
Anita Singh, wife of AAP leader Sanjay Singh, has criticized the poor quality of food served on the New Delhi–Lucknow Tejas Express. She described the rotis as hard, the paneer as stale, and the dal as watery, urging Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to address the issue.

NEW DELHI: AAP leader Sanjay Singh’s wife, Anita Singh, criticised the quality of food served on the New Delhi–Lucknow Tejas Express, calling it “extremely poor” and accusing Indian Railways of endangering passengers’ health. In a post on X, Anita Singh wrote, “The food served on Tejas Express was of extremely poor quality, rotis were as hard as papad, paneer was stale, and instead of dal, only water was served. Is this what Indian Railways calls ‘world-class’ service? Stop playing with passengers’ health!” She also tagged railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in her post, urging him to take note. The image she posted showed a tray of four foil containers, one with what appeared to be dal, another with paneer in curry, and the rest with dry aloo sabzi and plain rice. The roti, not seen in the image, was called out as being “papad-like” in texture.

    IRCTC responds

In response, the IRCTC issued a formal reply stating that food quality is regularly checked and no similar complaints were received from other passengers in the said coach, and in fact, the catering service was generally appreciated. The IRCTC further added that its onboard catering staff had offered a replacement meal to Singh.“Nevertheless, we take your feedback seriously,” the IRCTC said, adding that a senior official has been designated to ensure strict compliance with food quality standards on the train.
