PITHORAGARH: Former BJP MPMeenakshi Lekhi, who was on a pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar, sustained injuries after falling from a horse at Derapuk in Tibet. She has now returned to India, cutting short her journey. Lekhi was part of the second batch of pilgrims undertaking the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, which consists of 48 members, including 14 women. The group began its journey from Delhi on July 8 and crossed the Lipulekh Pass into Tibet on July 14. They are currently on the parikrama route of Mount Kailash in Tibet. According to official sources, Lekhi was on horseback during the parikrama on Saturday when she fell and injured her back. As a result, she has withdrawn from the yatra and is on her way back to India.

On Sunday morning, she reached the Lipulekh Pass and from there she will carry to Gunji. She is expected to be airlifted to Dehradun, depending on weather conditions. If the weather is unfavorable, she will be transported by road. Official sources confirmed that she has sustained a back injury.
