Harmanpreet Kaur etched her name into the history books by becoming the first-ever visiting batter to score three Women’s ODI centuries in England and only the third Indian woman to score 4,000 One Day International (ODI) runs. She reached the milestone during the third and final match against England at the Riverside Ground in Durham on Tuesday. Batting at No. 4, the Indian captain also registered her seventh ODI century, powering India to a commanding 318/5 in the first innings. She brought up her century off just 82 balls, which is the second fastest by an Indian woman in ODIs. The 36-year-old joined her deputy Smriti Mandhana and the legendary Mithali Raj in the 4,000-run club, reaching the landmark in her 149th match (129th innings). Harmanpreet also became only the second Indian after Mithali Raj to score 1,000 ODI runs in England. She has now scored three centuries and five fifties in 30 matches in the country. Only six women, including Kaur, have managed 1,000-plus ODI runs in a country away from home.

Indians with most runs in Women’s ODIs

    • Mithali Raj – 7805 runs (211 innings)
    • Smriti Mandhana – 4588 runs (105 innings)
    • Harmanpreet Kaur – 4069 (129 innings)
    • Anjum Chopra – 2856 (112 innings)
    • Deepti Sharma – 2392 (93 innings)

While the visitors didn’t threaten their record score of 333/5 from 2022, they dominated through robust batting partnerships. She added 81 runs for the third wicket with Harleen Deol (45) and later accelerated with a 110-run stand off just 77 balls with Jemimah Rodrigues, who smashed a 45-ball 50 studded with seven fours. Richa Ghosh added a late flourish with an unbeaten 38 off 18 balls, which included three fours and two sixes.

    Poll

Who do you think is the most influential Indian woman cricketer of all time?

Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal laid a solid platform with a 64-run opening stand. Mandhana looked in fine touch during her 45 off 54 balls before falling to Sophie Ecclestone. Rawal contributed 26 before edging one behind off Charlie Dean, with England successfully reviewing the decision. Harleen Deol also got a start but was dismissed for 45, falling to Lauren Bell’s short ball. Despite individual milestones missed, India ended with a strong total in the series decider, having earlier won the five-match T20I series.
