Tributes have been paid to popular Irish League figure Aaron Moffett, who has passed away after a car accident in July.

The 38-year-old was involved in a car crash on Coolmillish Road near Markethill on 12 July.

Moffett had been treated in hospital in Belfast in the weeks following the crash.

A stalwart of the County Armagh club, Moffett retired in 2021 after spending 13 years at Dollingstown as a player and captain, and had become club secretary at Planters Park.

The defender won a number of trophies in his time with the club, including the Intermediate Cup in 2020 and the Bob Radcliffe Cup in 2016.

Dollingstown posted on Facebook: “May you rest in peace skipper.”

“Words simply will never do him justice. Moff was simply Mr Dollingstown, loved by all.

“He was respected and admired by clubs all over the island. We thank each and every one of you for the messages and phone calls of support.

“A total gentleman who we will never forget.”

Portadown BBOB, who Moffett played for before joining Dollingstown, said he would be “deeply missed and forever remembered”.

“It’s hard to find the right words to express the deep sorrow that will be felt throughout the club,” the club posted on Facebook.

“Aaron touched so many lives and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.”
