Tara BurrowsHundreds of people have watched as a Somerset teenager had a smile put on his face as he was driven around in supercars.
Harvey, 14, from Highbridge was first diagnosed with a brain tumour at 22 months old, which he recovered from, but his family were told on 18 August that he had grade four glioma, an aggressive, fast-growing brain tumour.
Tara Burrows, Harvey’s mum, asked people with “cool or unique” cars to gather at Burnham-on-Sea seafront on Sunday afternoon, and Ms Burrows said “a couple hundred people” turned up, despite the wet and windy weather.
Harvey’s favourite car was a Lamborghini, Ms Burrows said adding the turnout was “marvellous”.
Ms Burrows contacted Musgrove Park Hospital last month after Harvey began experiencing headaches and dizziness.
A scan then led to the diagnosis of grade four glioma, which is incurable.
“Harvey is an absolutely incredible, bright, 14-year-old boy that was just enjoying his life,” Ms Burrows said.
“He beat it and he was 12 years clear and we never thought we would be here again.”
Tara BurrowsMs Burrows, along with friends and family, is keen to give Harvey special memories.
As he is “very fond of cars”, the decision to organise the drive-by was born, and fellow car fanatics from Bristol, Wells, and Newton Abbot arrived in Burnham-on-Sea on Sunday to show Harvey their cars and support.
“There was probably over a couple hundred people stood there, taking videos of the cars,” Ms Burrows said.
“The police were great as well, diverting all the traffic, there was a lot of support there.”
Tara Burrows“A massive thank you for everybody that turned up today and didn’t let the weather put them off,” Ms Burrows said.
“Their support has just been overwhelming. It was just lovely, even to see the little kids faces, seeing all the cars turn up. It was just marvellous.”
