GettyTwo boys have been arrested after disorder involving about 60 people in a town centre.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) one 16-year-old boy had been held on suspicion of racially aggravated public disorder and another on suspicion of assault after trouble in Bolton on Saturday.
GMP was given powers to disperse people from the area until 02:00 GMT on Sunday.
A spokesman said there had been “a big group of youths gathering in the town centre” and reports “that within the group there were assaults going on”.
Inspector Nick White, from the Bolton division, said: “The reported behaviour of those involved, putting members of the public at risk, will not be tolerated.
“Bolton should be a safe place for all those who wish to visit to make use of facilities within the Town Centre.”
