Queen Camilla records special broadcast with John and Amy Hunt

The Queen has recorded a special radio broadcast with the BBC racing commentator John Hunt, whose wife and two daughters were murdered at their home last year.

Louise Hunt, 25, her sister Hannah Hunt, 28, and their mother Carol Hunt, 61, were killed by Louise’s ex-partner Kyle Clifford at their home in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on 9 July last year.

Mr Hunt and his daughter Amy were invited by Queen Camilla to Clarence House as part of a special edition of BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, which will be broadcast on New Year’s Eve.

A fundraising gala for the Hunt Family Fund, set up in the memory of Carol, Louise and Hannah, will take place on Thursday evening.

At Cambridge Crown Court in March, Clifford, 27, was sentenced to a whole life order, after pleading guilty to the murders and his conviction for raping Louise.

The announcement of the special broadcast coincides with the final day of the UN’s 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.

Recorded on 27 November, the broadcast was chaired by the BBC’s Emma Barnett and included former prime minister Baroness Theresa May, who will guest edit the Today programme on 31 December.

Earlier this year, Mr Hunt and his daughter said they were both keen to keep the spirit of their loved ones alive.

Mr Hunt said: “From the moment I wake up, I say good morning to each of them.

“Sometimes I say out loud to Hannah and Louise: ‘Girls, sorry I can’t be with you, I’m with your mum at the moment’. As I close my eyes at night, I chat to them as well.”

Ms Hunt said: “My mum, Hannah and Louise became a statistic.

“They became victims of Kyle Clifford.

“I want to breathe life back into my mum, Hannah and Louise as fully rounded people.”
