Sid the cat abandoned in Wolverhampton gets his happy ever after

Sid has a nasal deformity which he was born with, the charity said

A flea-ridden cat with a nose deformity living in dirty conditions in a home has got his happy ending after being taken in by a new owner and gaining a new feline friend.

Sid, three, was rescued by the RSPCA from a property in Wolverhampton but had breathing difficulties due to his nasal birth deformity, the charity said.

Fortunately an operation was not needed as treatment eased his breathing and after eating healthily and given flea medication he was adopted by a new family in Berkshire.

New owner Kate Cooper said he was a “sweetheart” and was loving life living with her blind cat Echo and Golden Retriever, Froska who adores him.

“I remember seeing Sid’s little face on the RSPCA website and thought he was beautiful,” she said.

Sid and Echo now sleep, play and hang out together along with Golden Retriever, Froska

“I have had cats with medical needs before so this is something that I am prepared for and we have a ‘catio’ giving them safe outside access so the house is well geared up for house cats.

“He is a lovely boy – such a sweetheart – who loves playing with Echo and Froska and they often cuddle up together.”

RSPCA animal rescue officer Charlotte Holder said he was rescued after she responded to a call to the charity’s cruelty line in August with concerns for the welfare of a cat living at a property in Wolverhampton.

Sid has found his happy ending after being adopted, the charity said

He appeared to have been abandoned and another person who had taken him on was also struggling and agreed to sign him over into the care of the RSPCA, she said.

He was assessed and successfully treated before being adopted several weeks later.

Emma Finnamore, cattery supervisor at the RSPCA in Birmingham, said he had come on “leaps and bounds” after his treatment, and thought he would be a perfect match for the family as they already had a blind house cat.

Owner Ms Cooper added: “Mobility-wise he is fine but does have slightly deformed eyes one of which needs lubricating eye drops and he has nasal problems which just need bathing.

“But apart from that he is just a loving and adventurous cat and we are delighted to have him in the family.”
