BBCA road in Nottingham has been closed after three pedestrians were hit by a car.
Nottinghamshire Police said officers believed the driver had suffered a medical emergency at the wheel in Main Street, Bulwell, on Wednesday.
East Midlands Ambulance Service said three paramedics, a doctor, and three ambulances were called to the scene, and three people were taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.
The road is expected to be closed for “some time” while investigations take place, the force added.
Motorists are being advised to find alternative routes.
Dylan LewisAnne Wilson told the BBC she heard a “loud bang” and went to see what had happened in Main Street.
“I came around the corner and I saw people on the floor being looked after by paramedics,” she said.
Ms Wilson said she saw two “elderly” ladies on the floor, with one having a “large bump” on her head.
