Animal welfare advocate Sarah Fisher has died at the age of 61

Tributes have been paid to an “extraordinary, kind and talented mother” and animal-welfare advocate.

Sarah Fisher, who lived in Bath, with her partner, actor Anthony Head – famous for his role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Little Britain – ran Tilley Farm, a sanctuary for rescued horses, ponies and donkeys.

Her daughters, Emily and Daisy Head, said: “No words could ever express all she encompassed, or begin to describe the crater her absence has left”, following her death last week, aged 61.

“We know how profoundly she has impacted the lives of so many, and we couldn’t be more proud of the legacy she is leaving behind,” they added.

Ms Fisher also ran Animal Centred Education, within Tilley Farm, which supported the needs of dogs and other animals.

Ms Fisher supported many animal charities and was a strong presence in her community

The sisters thanked their mother’s friends, colleagues and collaborators for being a part of her enriched life and said her death was a shock to them all.

“Our grief knows no bounds, nor did the reaches of her incredibly unique and irreplaceable spirit,” they added.

Pauline Leeson said Ms Fisher “will be remembered with much love for all her outstanding work”

Ms Fisher was a long-standing patron of Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary in North Somerset with founder Pauline Leeson paying tribute to the “most genuine, caring and compassionate human being”.

“Sarah was an advocate for all animals… and was always a voice for those dear souls who have no voice.

“She will be a huge loss to the animal kingdom she worked so tirelessly for, helping so very many animals of all species to find their way to cope and be happy in this changing world.

“We at Holly Hedge are so proud to have known Sarah. Her memory will live on in all the good work and positive change she has made to their lives.

“Our hearts go out to Anthony, Emily, Daisy and family,” she added.
