India opener Sanju Samson is among the eight players nominated for the T20 World Cup Player of the Tournament, announced by the ICC on Friday.Samson, who missed the early games, impressed with back-to-back player-of-the-match performances. He scored 89 off 42 balls against England in the semifinals, helping India win by seven runs, and earlier hit 97 off 50 balls against the West Indies in the quarterfinals. So far, he has 232 runs in four matches at an average of 77.33 and a strike rate of 201.73.

Will Jacks played a key role in England winning six of their eight matches, scoring 226 runs and taking 9 wickets, earning four player-of-the-match awards.Sahibzada Farhan of Pakistan made 383 runs in six innings, including two centuries, the most by any player in a single T20 World Cup edition.Lungi Ngidi took 12 wickets in seven matches for South Africa, while skipper Aiden Markram scored 286 runs across eight games.Rachin Ravindra contributed with both bat and ball, scoring 128 runs and taking 11 wickets, and Tim Seifert made 274 runs with eight fifties for New Zealand.Even though the USA exited early, Shadley van Schalkwyk claimed 13 wickets in four matches.India will face New Zealand in the final match in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
