The front page of the Daily Mail

Most of Saturday’s papers lead on the back and forth of missile strikes between Israel and Iran. The Daily Mail brands this “All-out war” between the two nations, with the latest escalation starting when Israel targeted Iranian nuclear plants, to which Iran vowed to retaliate.

The front page of the i Weekend edition.

The i Paper’s weekend edition also leads on the “war” between Israel and Iran, and bullet-points each side’s movements. The paper takes a look at the UK’s response to the latest escalation, which asserted Israel’s “right to self-defence” while urging the nations to de-escalate.

The front page of the Daily Telegraph.

The Daily Telegraph focuses on Iran’s retaliatory strikes on Tel Aviv. Across the front page is an image of a large, fiery explosion against a metropolitan skyline. Elsewhere, the paper looks at how flickering lights on the Air India flight that crashed on Thursday, killing 241 people onboard, could provide clues as to why the plane went down.

The front page of the Daily Mirror

The Daily Mirror splashes the same image as the Daily Telegraph, but references Israel’s threat to retaliate further. In a separate story, the paper shares how proud Sir David Beckham is feeling, after receiving a knighthood in the King’s Birthday Honours.

The front page of the Guardian

“Iran vows revenge” the Guardian asserts on its front page. Israel’s strikes target nuclear facilities in Iran, so the paper offers a look at whether the country is as close to building a nuclear weapon as Israel says. The paper’s second lead story reports how the black box of the plane in the Air India disaster has been found.

The front page of The Times

The Times also leads on Iran’s retaliatory strikes on Israel, pointing out that US President Donald Trump has called on the country to “do a deal” to end its nuclear programme. Elsewhere, the paper hails film legend Sir Gary Oldman, who joins Sir David Beckham in receiving a knighthood.

The front page of the FT Weekend

The Financial Times’ weekend edition offers a take on the developing conflict in the Middle East, as seen from Tehran. It asks the question of whether Israel and Iran are indeed at war. The paper also questions how Trump supporters may react to fears of war, after the president campaigned on a promise of ending global conflicts.

The front page of the Daily Express.

Strictly Come Dancing presenting duo Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly have been awarded OBE’s in King Charles’ birthday honours, the Daily Express reports. The paper also leads on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.

The front page of the Sun.

An MBE has been awarded to Luke Littler, the youngest darts world champion ever, the Sun reports. The paper also reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have allegedly severed ties with their PR representatives.

    Daily Star front page

The Daily Star also commends Luke Little on his MBE, joking that the award stands for “Mast of the Bulls Eye”. The paper also indirectly references the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, simply sharing an image of Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, alongside the phrase “Not now WW3”.
