Family pictureA man has been arrested after a 19-year-old pub worker was killed in a hit-and-run crash while walking home from work in North Yorkshire.
Bailey Chadwick was struck by a vehicle on the B6265, between Pateley Bridge and Glasshouses, in the early hours of Sunday after earlier finishing a shift at the nearby Royal Oak pub.
On Friday, police confirmed a man in his twenties had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving on Thursday and was in police custody.
The North Yorkshire force also asked the public “not to speculate on social media” about the incident.
The family of Sheffield Wednesday fan Bailey said the teenager had been due to go travelling to Thailand soon.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Bailey’s mother and stepfather appealed for the driver who struck him to come forward.
“If you’ve any empathy within you whatsoever, it’s the least you could do,” they said.
Det Insp Jill Cowling, who is in charge of the case around Bailey’s death, said an extensive investigation was taking place into the crash, which included reviewing CCTV footage.
