IND vs Eng: 'A shub-lime win' — Sachin Tendulkar hails Shubman Gill's Team India after historic win

Sachin Tendulkar could not hide his joy after India’s huge 336-run win over England at Edgbaston, which is also India’s first-ever Test victory at this famous ground. Taking to X, Sachin called Shubman Gill’s knock “𝘚𝘩𝘶𝘣lime” and congratulated him for leading from the front.“Congratulations, @ShubmanGill, on powering India to a brilliant Test victory!” Sachin wrote. He also praised Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja for batting so well in the second innings when it really mattered. Sachin said he loved how India made sure England never felt comfortable. “India’s approach was to take England out of this game and force them to play differently, making sure there would only be one winner,” he wrote.

Morkel: Siraj Pushes Limits, Always Gives His All for India

He was especially happy with how the bowlers stuck to their plans. He gave debutant Akash Deep big praise, calling him the standout bowler and saying he bowled “the ball of the series” to dismiss Joe Root. To top it off, Sachin signed off with a smile, saying he really enjoyed the sharp catch taken by “Mohammad ‘Jonty’ Siraj.”

    Poll

Do you believe India can maintain their winning momentum in the next Test at Lord’s?

India were under pressure after losing the first Test but came back strong. Shubman Gill led by example with a stunning 269 in the first innings and a calm 161 in the second. KL Rahul, Pant and Jadeja supported him with valuable runs to push India’s lead far out of England’s reach.Quiz: Who’s that IPL player? England were left needing 608 runs to win, which was always going to be impossible. Akash Deep, playing his first Test, grabbed everyone’s attention with 10 wickets across both innings. He got big players like Joe Root, Ollie Pope and Harry Brook, and never let England build any momentum. Sundar and Jadeja also chipped in with important wickets, while Siraj’s energy and safe catching lifted the team in the field. In the end, India bowled England out for 271, sealing a massive win and levelling the series 1-1. Now the team heads to Lord’s with huge confidence and with Bumrah coming back, this series is perfectly set up for more big moments.
