I did hit the first ball but found the fielder. So after that there was no chat. But I think Rishabh felt like he could have given me the single and try and get my 100 just before lunch. So yeah, it’s one of those things.”Rahul, who went on to complete his 10th Test hundred after lunch before falling soon after, acknowledged the emotional fallout of the incident. “I feel bad for Rishabh because he was batting beautifully. He could have easily had his name on the board. He was looking really solid — that’s not a word usually associated with him, but his defense and approach were excellent. We both could have made it really big and taken the team to a much better position.“Their 141-run partnership had laid a solid platform for India, highlighting the effective contrast in their playing styles – Rahul’s classical calmness versus Pant’s aggressive flair.
