The stage is set for the Met Gala, one of the grandest events in the world of fashion. This year’s edition of the Met Gala is undoubtedly set to attract attention from India like never before. Indian stars Kiara Advani, Diljit Dosanjh and Deepika Padukone are set to attend, but it is safe to say that the world is glued to catch the appearance of one Indian celebrity in particular: Shah Rukh Khan.

What’s Met Gala?
The Met Gala, often dubbed “fashion’s biggest night out,” is an annual fundraising affair for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, held on the first Monday of May. Started in 1948 by American fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert, the event has grown in prestige and scale over the years and is currently known for attracting an array of stars from film, music, fashion and more— all converging to celebrate the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition.
Who gets to participate at the Met Gala and how much does a ticket cost?
The Met Gala is a strictly invite-only event, and only celebrities who are invited get to participate. The exclusive event usually sees a footfall of 450 guests. The biggest fashion brands buy a table (a 10-seater table costs $350,000, while individual tickets go for $75,000) to host their celebrity partners.
The theme of this year:
The theme of the Met Gala is selected in accordance with the theme of the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition. And this year, the theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book ‘Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.’ The dress code, on the other hand, is “Tailored To You,” which denotes that this is all set to be the first Met Gala in decades — since 2003’s “Men in skirts” theme — to focus exclusively on menswear.
When and where to watch the Met Gala?
The Met Gala will happen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The event will be livestreamed starting at 6 p.m. Eastern Time. Indian viewers can watch the Met Gala live on Vogue’s YouTube channel from 3:30 AM IST on May 6, Tuesday.
Who are the Indian celebrities attending Met Gala this year?
As we mentioned above, Shah Rukh Khan is all set to become the first-ever Indian male actor to walk the red carpet at the Met Gala. Kiara Advani, who is expecting her first child with Sidharth Malhotra, will grace the event as well. Earlier today, Kiara took to her Instagram account to share her excitement. The actor posted a gorgeously arranged table in a story she posted. Fans of acclaimed Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh will also see his debut appearance at the Met Gala this year. On the other hand, Met Gala regular Priyanka Chopra will make her fifth appearance, donning an outfit designed by Balmain.
Apart from Priyanka, Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt have attended the prestigious fashion event earlier. Interestingly, last year, Sabyasachi Mukherjee became the first Indian fashion designer to walk the Met Gala carpet.
What will Shah Rukh Khan wear?
Of course, going with the theme and Sabyasachi’s style, we can truly expect King Khan to look as regal as you can imagine. For now, all we know is it will be a black ensemble that is sure to turn heads at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
