It was not just history that 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi scripted at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Monday night — it was a story of dreams, sacrifices, and undying belief.
Fresh from becoming the youngest centurion in IPL history, Vaibhav opened up about the struggles behind his extraordinary rise. Fighting back emotions, he credited everything to his parents, whose relentless sacrifices laid the foundation for his journey.
“Main jo bhi hoon, yahan tak apne parents ki wajah se hoon,” Vaibhav said, his voice reflecting pride and gratitude. He revealed how his mother, despite the hardships, wakes up at 2 AM to prepare his meals after barely catching three hours of sleep.
His father, once the sole breadwinner, gave up his job to focus entirely on Vaibhav’s cricketing journey, with his elder brother stepping up to support the family.
“Ghar bahut mushkil se chal raha hai… par papa hamesha bolte the – karega tu, karega tu.”
This isn’t just about one record-breaking knock; it’s about years of unseen struggles stitched together by unwavering belief.
Vaibhav also recalled his first steps into professional cricket — how a standout performance in trials caught the eye of RR’s scouts, with Romi Bhinder, Vikram Rathour, and Zubin Bharucha playing pivotal roles in bringing him into the Rajasthan Royals fold.
“Jab team mein aaya tha, sabse pehle Romi Sir ka call aaya tha… Rahul Dravid Sir se baat karna, unke under training karna, ek normal cricketer ke liye dream se kam nahi.”
Playing under the mentorship of legends like Rahul Dravid and receiving constant encouragement from senior teammates like Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Riyan Parag has kept the youngster grounded and fearless, even under the bright lights of the IPL.
“Seniors mujhe hamesha positive baatein bolte hain… ground pe jaake bas apna game khelne ka try karta hoon.”Even when facing world-class international bowlers, Vaibhav’s mindset remained simple and brave. Hitting a six off the very first ball wasn’t about arrogance; it was about clarity.
“Ball meri radar mein aayi, maine maara. First ball ka pressure nahi tha, bas apna game khelne ka socha tha.”
Despite the extraordinary success at such a young age, Vaibhav’s vision is set far ahead. “Abhi aur aage karna hai… apne desh ke liye kuch karna hai. Jab tak uss level tak nahi pahuchta, tab tak mehnat jaari rahegi.”

Everything is special about Vaibhav Suryavanshi: Vikram Rathour

For a boy who wasn’t even born when Yusuf Pathan smashed the fastest Indian IPL hundred — and now has broken that very record — Vaibhav Suryavanshi is a living testament to how dreams stitched with sacrifice, courage, and relentless work ethic can soar beyond boundaries.
And in his heart, as he continues to chase bigger dreams, one truth remains firmly rooted: it’s all because of his parents.
