In a move that underscores the rising appetite for top-tier personalisation and cutting-edge technology in the Indian luxury car market, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled two exclusive special editions — the EQS 580 4MATIC Celebration Edition and AMG G 63 Collector’s Edition. Both models are restricted in number and tailor-made for a niche set of customers who value rarity, craftsmanship, and distinctiveness.

These special editions are not just cosmetic makeovers; they reflect a strategic push by Mercedes-Benz to deepen its Top-End Vehicle (TEV) portfolio in India. With the EQS 580 targeting the sophisticated, sustainability-conscious buyer and the AMG G 63 appealing to enthusiasts who lean towards high performance and bespoke luxury, the two launches demonstrate a nuanced understanding of the evolving luxury car buyer in India.

    EQS 580 4MATIC Celebration Edition

The EQS 580 4MATIC, already established as one of the most technologically advanced luxury EVs in the Indian market, now arrives in a more refined, India-specific avatar. The Celebration Edition puts the spotlight on the rear-seat experience — a defining factor for luxury buyers in the country making the car a more compelling proposition for those who prefer to be chauffeured.

Among its highlights is the Executive Seat package, which allows the rear seats to recline up to 38 degrees, along with massage functionality and multi-contour adjustments that enhance long-distance comfort. The Chauffeur Package adds further value by enabling the front passenger seat to fold forward, freeing up additional legroom at the back. These additions are complemented by Nappa leather upholstery, designer seatbelt buckles, and a whisper-quiet cabin that underscores the serenity of electric mobility.

Technologically, the EQS continues to lead from the front. The MBUX Hyperscreen — a single-glass surface integrating three displays — remains the centrepiece of the dashboard. With MBUX AR navigation and a robust all-wheel-drive system, the EV combines innovation with practicality in a way few others do. Its low-drag coefficient, one of the lowest of any production car globally, delivers a certified range of over 850 kilometres — making it luxurious and exceptionally efficient.

The EQS 580 Celebration Edition’ is limited to just 50 units in India and is priced at ₹1.30 crore (ex-showroom).

    AMG G 63 Collector’s Edition

If the EQS 580 represents the future of luxury, the AMG G 63 Collector’s Edition taps into heritage, power, and a sense of individuality that has long defined the G-Wagon. Limited to only 30 units, this version stands out not just for its rarity but for the depth of personalisation it brings to the table.

Two unique MANUFAKTUR paint options — Mid Green Magno and Red Magno — have been curated specifically for this edition, reflecting India’s diverse and vibrant palette. Personalisation goes even deeper with a unique engraved grab handle featuring the owner’s name, and a “One of Thirty” insignia on the spare wheel cover, reinforcing the vehicle’s exclusivity.

Inside, the SUV features a bold yet elegant Catalana Beige and black Nappa leather theme with open-pore walnut wood trim. The 22-inch Tech Gold AMG cross-forged wheels make a striking visual statement while emphasising the vehicle’s performance pedigree.

Under the hood, the G 63 remains unapologetically muscular. The handcrafted 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine churns out 585 hp and 850 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. With its AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system, adaptive suspension, and multiple driving modes, the G 63 offers a blend of brute force and luxury refinement that continues to set it apart.

Mercedes has also included the latest NTG7 MBUX system with twin 12.3-inch screens, AR navigation, and a Burmester surround sound system, ensuring the cabin remains as connected and immersive as it is luxurious.

The AMG G 63 Collector’s Edition is available exclusively to existing Mercedes-Benz top-end customers and is priced at ₹4.30 crore (ex-showroom).

    The bottom line

In many ways, these special editions reflect a quiet transformation in the Indian luxury automotive space. No longer is personalisation seen as a Western indulgence — it is increasingly becoming central to what Indian customers expect at the top end. With the EQS Celebration Edition and the AMG G 63 Collector’s Edition, Mercedes-Benz is not just showcasing its design and engineering capability, but also its growing understanding of local sensibilities. It is Merc’s confident stride forward, one that balances exclusivity with intent, and luxury with relevance. As the market matures, such bespoke offerings may well become the benchmark rather than the exception.
