Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer and Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya have been fined by the Indian Premier League (IPL) for maintaining slow over rates during Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This was Punjab Kings’ second slow over rate offense of the season, which meant a hefty fine of INR 24 lakhs for Iyer. The team’s Playing XI members and Impact Player were each fined either INR 6 lakh or 25 percent of their match fees, whichever is lesser.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. Pandya received a fine of INR 30 lakhs, while his team’s Playing XI members and Impact Player were each fined either INR 12 lakh or 50 percent of their match fees, whichever is lesser.Who’s that IPL player? Both penalties were imposed under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses. In the high-octane clash between PBKS and MI, the former pulled off a thrilling win in Ahmedabad in a match that was delayed by rain. After being pushed back over 2 hours, PBKS marched on to victory riding on the back of a thrilling knock from their skipper. The 30-year-old took center stage with his 87-run show in just 41 deliveries.

Nehal Wadhera’s 48 from 29 and Josh Inglis’ 38 from 21 deliveries also helped Punjab chase down the 203 total posted by MI. The result means that PBKS will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru on June 3 for the summit clash.

Who do you think was the key player for Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2?

The fines reflect the IPL’s strict stance on maintaining match timing and over-rate regulations during the tournament.
