Family photoA teenage student who died in a crash involving a minibus and a car in North Yorkshire has been named.
Eleanor Hague, 16, a sixth form pupil at Tadcaster Grammar School, died when the minibus she was a passenger in collided with a Hyundai i10 in Toulston Lane on Monday.
North Yorkshire Police said there were eight other passengers aged 16 to 18 on the bus, one of whom suffered serious injuries, as well as the driver.
The force said the driver of the car, a 40-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving following the crash but had since been released on police bail.
The force said the passengers on the bus were students at Tadcaster Grammar School and Sherburn High School, who have a shared sixth form.
Eleanor – known as Ellie – was from Sherburn in Elmet, police said, adding that her family were being supported by specialist officers.
Another teenage girl who was injured in the crash was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries, though police said they were not believed to be life-threatening.
The other passengers, and the man driving the minibus, received treatment at hospital for minor injuries.
