Delhi Capitals recovered from a perilous 29/5 and 62/6 to post 134 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday evening, thanks to contributions from Ashutosh Sharma (41 off 26) and Tristan Stubbs (unbeaten 41). However, heavy rain arrived immediately after the first innings concluded.
If the match will be washed out then Pat Cummins-led SRH will be knocked out of the playoffs race.
The rain keeps lashing down at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The entire ground is covered.
The match will also affect the IPL 2025 playoff hopes of Delhi Capitals, who are currently in fifth spot in the IPL 2025 standings with 12 points from 10 games.
Earlier after opted to field first, a disciplined bowling effort from SRH saw them restrict Delhi Capitals to 133/7.
Captain Pat Cummins led from the front with a blistering three-wicket haul in the powerplay, dismantling the DC top order.
Cummins struck with the very first delivery of the match, removing Karun Nair with a classic Test match-style delivery – back of a length in the corridor, a hint of away seam, and extra bounce. Nair fished at it tentatively, only to edge it behind to Ishan Kishan, who was donning the gloves in place of Heinrich Klaasen.

There was more joy in Cummins’ next over as he cleverly adjusted his length after spotting Faf du Plessis advancing down the track, forcing a bottom edge that Kishan gladly accepted. The Capitals were 6/2 in 2.1 overs.
The SRH skipper was relentless with his lines and used the pitch’s extra bounce and variable pace to great effect. In his third over, Cummins got Abishek Porel with a seemingly innocuous delivery on the pads, but the ball stopped on the surface, ballooning a leading edge off an attempted flick that Kishan collected after sprinting towards square-leg – his third catch of the evening.
    Who’s that IPL player?
While Tristan Stubbs (41 not out) and impact player Ashutosh Sharma (41 off 26) provided some late resistance with a 66-run stand, the early damage proved too much for Delhi to overcome.
Jaydev Unadkat’s tight spell (1/13) and a wicket from Harshal Patel further stifled the visitors. Cummins was the standout bowler with figures of 3/19.
